Hello. I’ve just come off the back of an intense, inspiring and thought-filling time at the 2013 South By South West festival in Austin, Texas. It was a week in new media and technology and big thinking wonderland. Much like previous years, there were extreme highlights and treasure-troves of valuable information that I’m taking away with me and that I hope to share with you over the coming weeks and months. Cat Matson (who co-hosts the Social Media for Small Business podcast with me) and I managed to capture some of the conference highlights in a series of short videos. Take a look to see some of the lessons we took away from the conference:
- Conscious Capitalism – Create a business with a purpose
- Inspiration from former US Vice President Al Gore and PayPal Co-Founder Elon Musk
- New Aussie social platform Posse helps women share their favourite places
- Bold conversations, a trip to Mars, the new social media and the circles we play in
- Tout – the social media tool that helps you capture community sentiment
- What the CEO of Evernote has to say about your life’s work
- Recommendations for viral content from the founder of popular site Buzzfeed and
- How and why cartoonist and author Matthew Inman raised nearly 2 million dollars through crowdfunding
I hope you enjoy these. And, I encourage you to put the 2014 SXSW dates on your calendar. It’s worth the visit.
