Tax Commissioner Michael D’Ascenzo said a reluctance to speak to the ATO was a barrier for many businesses, but a personal and private discussion ensured small business owners received the help they needed.
“The ATO’s recent assistance visits held across other parts of the country have been very useful for local business people,” Mr D’Ascenzo said. “Because good business depends on good relationships, our small business assistance program aims to make our support practical and accessible. The small business assistance program helps people start to develop good habits with their tax and super obligations, and contributes to a better run business. It’s also important to note that information you share with the ATO during a visit is confidential and the visits are offered with no strings attached.”
