Pinterest has incredible potential to drive traffic to your website. It is a virtual pin board. So, if you think of the corkboard that you might have sitting at home, where you pin all the things that are of interest or important to you, that’s kind of what Pinterest is, except people also use Pinterest to show off what they think is beautiful. For example, if you own a gift shop, you could post the products as you’re unwrapping them — you could take a photo of them and upload it to Pinterest. And then a user might say, “Oh, that’s a beautiful pair of earrings,” and then pin the image to their gift ideas board. If you own a surf store, you could have some pins for not only the stock that you’re bringing, but also the surfers that you admire, or the surf, just images of the surf.
Pinterest is certainly the new kid on the block when it comes to social media, but it can drive a lot of traffic to your website.
Recently, Suzi Dafnis and I interviewed Christina Butcher of Hair Romance about how she’s using Pinterest to drive traffic to her already-popular blog. Listen to the interview for some tips about how you can use Pinterest for business.
