Hello. I want to tell you about one of the shifts we’ve seen in recent years that’s really gaining momentum — and becoming an essential for business owners in 2017 is the concept of growing your personal brand.
It’s not enough as a business owner for you to focus on your company brand, you now also need to be building your own personal brand as an AUTHORITY in your industry — it’s what your clients, strategic partners and key stakeholders are taking MORE and MORE notice of… and how YOU manage your personal brand can make a HUGE difference to the number of sales you make and the number of opportunities that open up for you.
This is ESPECIALLY important for you to think about if you’re not currently getting the level of new business you really want or need… if you’re NOT standing out from the crowd, chances are YOU ideal clients are heading to one of your competitors who are.
The same can be said of joint ventures — or other strategic partnerships.
If your profile is NOT as visible as it needs to be, THOSE opportunities could be currently slipping you by.
Of course, putting yourself out there in the limelight CAN be confronting — and time consuming.
So you really do need to have a strategic plan to get results.
One person who knows a lot about stepping into the spotlight is PR and Social Media expert, Catriona Pollard.

1. Start DEFINING your personal brand before you do ANY profile building work using PR or social media.
How do you want to be POSITIONED, what do you stand for, what’s your style of voice – this is your “one thing” – the voice across all the platforms .
For example, Apple’s “one thing” is INNOVATION and Richard Branson is “entrepreneurship” – Distill YOU positioning to one word.
2. “OWN” your title and role as “the expert” (acknowledge this and recognise this for yourself – be prepared to tell people you are an expert – back yourself).
3. KNOW YOUR MOTIVATION – why do you want to build your personal brand? What is your fundamental “why” (need to connect to that why)?
What is your platform? Don’t dilute your platform.
4. DETERMINE YOUR NICHE and stay true to that.
5. Write your BRAND STATEMENT – This brings your “one thing” and your platform together.
