Australian Businesswomen’s Network member and mother of three, Sarah O’Bryan provides tips for balancing work and family in her new book entitled, “Business & Baby at Home: A set up and survival guide for mums”.
The serenity exhibited by the home-based, successful graphic designer frequently elicits the question: “How do you do it?” from other mums.
“In fact, I answered this question so often, I thought I would write a book of practical tips and strategies to help other mums who want to start a business from home,” says Sarah.
“It is a straight- forward guide to getting it right, whether you are the sole breadwinner for your family or you just want to keep your hand in until your children are older.”
Mumpreneurs are fast becoming a growing force in the Australian economy. Forty percent of small business owners in the country are women. For most mums, the decision to start a business from home is the result of several factors, most notably the necessity to contribute to the family income while still actively parenting.
However, many mums just starting out face challenges, and find it a process of trial and error.
Sarah says, “It can feel very lonely at times, as you’re often powering along by yourself. The demands of parenting mean that work-from-home mums don’t usually have the luxury of attending lectures and business meetings to learn and network.”
Sarah’s book, for that reason, outlines how to get started and how to keep on going.
Congratulations Sarah, we wish you all the best!
