Judith Briggs wants to bring colour back into the world

Judith Briggs is fondly referred to as The Colour Lady, and for good reason. Judith is passionate about bringing colour back into people’s lives. She created her design consultancy, Colour Consultants Australia, for this reason. “I noticed the world was becoming blander – the cars we drive (mostly silver, white or black), the clothes people wear (too much black!) And the spaces we inhabit (mostly white, beige or grey),” she said. As the principal colour designer at her company, Judith had worked with product development and branding in addition to providing colour and design services to commercial and residential properties. Judith also serves as the Vice President of the Colour Society of Australia. Judith believes that colour should come together to create a sense of harmony. Her new book BYE BYE BLAND – How to Create Sensational Spaces Using Colour is a comprehensive guide that provides direction to readers on how to use colour in their homes. This book helps readers discover their colour personality, as well as all the things colour can do. “Our homes are our reward for a hard day’s work. Coming home to one that resonates with us fully will bring great joy, restore and revive us,” she said. The book also aims to help readers with their creative journey. Colour is such an intricate part of the design and it affects human emotion. The book serves as an expert guide to help people choose colours that work both for home and life. “it’s a ‘how-to’ use colour by understanding the psychology of colour and how colour works,” Judith said. She hopes that by the end of the book readers would have discovered a lot about colour as well as themselves.
