If you have a Facebook business page and you’d like to increase likes and level of engagement, then here are some cool ideas to try.
- Smile when you write your posts. When you smile, somehow it comes through in your posts. There’s more warmth and friendliness in the words you type.
Can you tell I’m smiling now? Try it!
- Post a mix of content types.Variety keeps your page interesting. Include images, links, text, questions, offers, events. Play around with different ways of sharing your ideas.
If I see a funny image that relates to one of my blog posts, then I share the image (with credit, unless it’s a meme) and add a link to my post as well.
- Experiment with number and frequency of posts. Some pages post several times day, others a few times a week. The only way to know what’s most helpful and engaging for your community is to experiment.
After some trial and error, I found that twice a day, around lunchtime and very-late-evening, work for me. These times work because most of my community is in the US.
- As far as possible, reply to everyone. If someone takes the trouble to engage with you, try to engage back!
It may not be necessary to reply to every comment made on a post, but it’s a good idea to at least answer questions posted on your wall or asked in response to your posts.
- Try promoted posts and sponsored stories.Allocate a small budget to promoted posts and sponsored stories.
You can promote a post by clicking [Promote] at the bottom of any post on your page. You can sponsor a story as an option when you advertise on Facebook.
Start small and gauge how effective either or both are for building up your page.
- Occasionally share your page content on your profile. If there’s something you’ve posted on your business page that might interest friends on your profile, then share it.
By sharing it from your page to your profile, rather than re-posting to your profile, you make it easy for friends who like the content to click across and like your page as well.
- Stay on-topic but also have fun.The right mix of seriousness and levity will depend on your personality, audience, and business.
But even if you’re an undertaker, look for ways to inject some lightness into your page. Nobody wants to be serious all the time.
Good luck! And if you visit my Facebook page – come say hi!
