In a new herBusiness interview, singer and songwriter Kate Ceberano candidly discusses her new book I’m Talking: My Life, My Words, My Music and what she believes are the qualities in a successful businesswomen. Kate also explains how she has successfully managed her personal brand through stages of her career. Media has changed over the years and social media has become a vital tool when marketing your brand. Kate shares how she is still new to the social media world but finds it very useful. Twitter, she believes is a great platform for businesswomen to use and allows your customers a “rare place to see your written and interior words. It helps you promote your brand in an unedited and live platform.” Importantly, Kate sees herself as and artist AND a businesswoman and believes that to be successful in your industry you cannot “rely too much on the magic”, meaning that you must understand the many different areas within your business, and not rely on charm and charisma alone (though, she points out, they do have their place). Kate also encourages us to think of our product as therapy for our customers and to ask if what we are creating is truly good for people.
