“It soothes my soul to sort and organise, and hold space for others whilst they let go, or discover themselves.”
Virginia Wells of WellSorted wanted to be a declutterer since she was tiny. Virginia saw a show Your Life on the Lawn when she was 15, and thought it was her dream job. Virginia would harass her friends and family to let her help them declutter and organise their rooms and wardrobes.
Virginia started her business as she couldn’t ignore the calling anymore. “It soothes my soul to sort and organise, and hold space for others whilst they let go, or discover themselves.”
Virginia is a Professional Organiser who supports women who are feeling overwhelmed, declutter and organise their space and mind with hands-on and virtual organising sessions.
EFT/Tapping was integrated a few years ago because this stress relief technique has helped Virginia so much over the last three years. Virginia wanted to share that with others, so they could let go of feelings, beliefs, pain or thoughts. Decluttering their bodies of what doesn’t serve them anymore.
“HerBusiness is a great community of women business owners, and I often come for recommendations for suppliers for my own business.”
Virginia has been a HerBusiness Network member since 2018, and says that it is a great place to meet other like minded business women. Virginia often comes to the community for recommendations for collaborations as well as suppliers she needs for her own business.
Virginia has also discovered, through trainings inside the Network, that working ON the business is a big part of running a business, and utilises any opportunity presented to do just that.
Who’s your favourite entrepreneur and why?
Fiona Keary from Style Liberation, she is fun, focused and an inspiration. Fiona is able to navigate changes in business climate, and adjust – seems unflappable and strong. Fiona is also just a brilliant human, with a big, generous heart. I love her.
Why did you start your business and what gave you the idea?
I wanted to be a declutterer since I was tiny. I saw a show ‘your life on the lawn’ when I was 15, and thought it was my dream job. I’d harass my friends and family to let me help them declutter and organise their rooms and wardrobes.
I started my business as I couldn’t ignore the calling anymore. It soothes my soul to sort and organise, and hold space for others whilst they let go, or discover themselves.
The EFT/Tapping was integrated a few years ago (more so this year) because this stress relief technique has helped me so much over the last 3 years. I wanted to share that with others, so they could let go of feelings, beliefs, pain or thoughts. Decluttering their bodies of what doesn’t serve them anymore.
What do you enjoy most about running your own business?
Being able to do what I love everyday. I know that’s cliche, but having freedom to book appointments when I want, with whom I want is amazing.
Helping people daily is always so rewarding.
What three pieces of advice do you wish you’d been given when you started?
- Be asked ‘do you want to do all the other things that come with operating a business?’
- It wasn’t that obvious to me that working ON the business is a big part of running a business.
- It’s important to know that you need to be good at ‘all the things’ when you start a business to keep it operating. At least if you are a solopreneur!
- Niche your business and understand the client you want to attract. Speak to them in your marketing.
- Pencil out time for admin and working on the business. The diary fills up (in a service business) and you will burn yourself out, if you don’t plan ahead.
What advice would YOU give someone thinking about starting a business?
The same as what I wish I was told!
What skills and knowledge areas would you recommend those starting out in business get acquainted with quickly?
Choosing a marketing approach and doing that well.
Surround yourself with a supportive community or group(s) so you can share the experience, learn from others who’ve come before you, and lean on these amazing people when stuck.
What does your IDEAL business look like? Even if you’re not there yet, what would it look like if your business was ideal?
My ideal business would include more clients in the tapping/EFT space – so I can help more people reduce their stress levels and attachment to thoughts, beliefs, pain and feelings that are getting in the way of them living the life they want to lead.
There would also be increased numbers of willing clients to do online decluttering sessions.
I’d like to step away from hands-on decluttering over time, so I can support my body. :)
What problem does being a Member of the HerBusiness Network solve for you and your business? And, how?
HerBusiness is a great place to meet other like minded business women, and I often come for recommendations for work I might need done.
There are always great marketing tips too.
