“When we follow the work that lights us up, we help others ignite too.”
Vered Ohanna of Success Engineering started her business the moment life demanded she stop postponing her purpose. At 44 – the age her father passed away – Vered found herself in a job that drained her, leading a huge project that looked successful on paper but felt like it was costing Vered her soul. That wake-up call made one thing crystal clear: Vered wasn’t going to spend the rest of her life surviving work instead of living her life. The realisation that helping people be and perform to their potential brought Vered back to life.
With a background in engineering, MBA, project management, process improvement, NLP, coaching, and leadership development, Vered brings a practical yet out of the box and intuitive approach to business coaching.
“Every client I supported reminded me of the same powerful truth: when we follow the work that lights us up, we help others ignite too. That’s why I built this business – because purpose isn’t something you wait for life to hand you. It’s something you claim.”
Vered helps heart-led entrepreneurs and purpose-driven business owners achieve clarity, growth, and aligned success by accessing their mindset, unique strengths, and strategic thinking – through coaching, training, and facilitation, both online and face to face.
“HerBusiness helps me stay inspired, accountable, and strategic, while building a business that reflects my purpose, values, and vision.”
Being a member of the HerBusiness Network gives Vered access to the connection and support with like-minded peers who understand the highs and lows of running a business. Vered says “It gives me a space to share experiences, gain insights, and access practical advice that helps me grow faster and smarter. In short, it helps me stay inspired, accountable, and strategic, while building a business that reflects my purpose, values, and vision.”
Who’s your favourite entrepreneur and why?
Amy Porterfield is one of my favourite entrepreneurs, not because she invented something flashy or disruptive, but because she mastered something far more valuable: She turned expertise into accessible education.
What I admire about Amy: She built her business quietly, intentionally, and strategically, not through overnight virality. She left a corporate role (which is similar to my background) bet on herself, and started simple.
I like that she is all about keeping it simple – clarity, frameworks, and genuine care for the people she teaches. (this aligns very well with my values). She empowers thousands of ordinary people to build digital income streams – which is one of the things I’m currently working on in my business.
Why did you start your business and what gave you the idea?
I started my business the moment life demanded I stop postponing my purpose. At 44 – the age my father passed away – I found myself in a job that drained me, leading a huge project that looked successful on paper but felt like it was costing me my soul. That wake-up call made one thing crystal clear: I wasn’t going to spend the rest of my life surviving work instead of living my life.
Coaching had been my passion for over 15 years – something I kept studying, training in, collecting tools like NLP, but never fully stepping into (that fear of “I don’t know how to sell”). When I finally walked away from the job that no longer fit, I stepped directly into the work I was meant to do (well, not exactly directly, it took some time to figure things out, and discover how to do it the hard way…)
The idea wasn’t a business plan.
It was a moment of truth.
The realisation that helping people be and perform their potential brought me back to life as well.
Every client I supported reminded me of the same powerful truth: when we follow the work that lights us up, we help others ignite too. That’s why I built this business – because purpose isn’t something you wait for life to hand you. It’s something you claim.
What do you enjoy most about running your own business?
It’s witnessing success unfold in many different forms – because success is not one definition. For one client, it’s doubling revenue. For another, it’s finally having weekends back. For someone else, it’s having the confidence to raise their prices, stand tall in who they are, or pursue the work they truly love without apology. And what inspires me most is the ripple effect – when growth in the business translates into growth in their life, their relationships, their wellbeing, and the people they love.
I love that this business allows me to bring every part of my journey into the work – the structure of engineering, the strategy of my MBA, the depth of Master NLP, the intuition of facilitation, and the clarity and momentum of project management. They all come together in how I coach, teach, and create transformational spaces.
It took me 15 years to overcome my own fear of selling and step fully into this purpose, which is why I’m deeply committed to helping business owners go beyond the fears and stories that hold them back – so their mindset doesn’t stop them from doing the work they’re here to do.
For me, running my business isn’t just a career. It’s the vehicle that lets me bring all of me to the world – and help others build success on their terms, in the life they truly want, with the people they love.
What three pieces of advice do you wish you’d been given when you started?
- Fear is part of the process – don’t let it stop you. It took me 15 years to overcome my fear of selling. I wish I’d taken the action beyond the knowledge. I knew that fear was natural, but action despite fear is what creates growth and opportunity – and failing faster can help you find your next way to succeed.
- Your definition of success is yours alone. I spent years measuring myself against others (well, that’s based on my Israeli upbringing…). I wish I’d been reminded early on that success isn’t one-size-fits-all – it’s about what lights you up, what aligns with your values, and what allows you to live your best life.
- Bring all of yourself to the work. Every skill, every experience, every learning you’ve gathered matters. Don’t hold parts of yourself back. I wish I’d known that my engineering mindset, MBA strategy, NLP training, and facilitation experience could all work together to create something truly unique and transformational – and that there is ALWAYS a way to make things happen.
What advice would YOU give someone thinking about starting a business?
Start with clarity about why you’re doing it – your purpose and the impact you want to create. That “why” will carry you through the fear, uncertainty, and tough days. Be ready to embrace your fears, especially around selling, visibility, or taking risks – because those fears are part of the process, not a stop sign. Action is what turns fear into momentum. Finally, if it’s something you love doing – there will always be a way – and sometimes, an external support that has been there, could give you a different perspective – that would help you move forward – and know you are not on your own.
and… your family wants the best for you, but they may not be the right advisers when it comes to your business choices.
What skills and knowledge areas would you recommend those starting out in business get acquainted with quickly?
Mindset mastery – Understanding your beliefs, fears, and triggers is critical. The way you think about money, sales, and risk will shape everything you do. Techniques like NLP or other mindset tools can be a huge advantage.
Sales and communication – Selling isn’t about pushy tactics; it’s about connecting, understanding needs, and confidently sharing the value you provide. Overcoming fear of selling early saves years of hesitation.
Business fundamentals and good planning – Learn the basics of finance, marketing, and strategy. Even a high-level understanding of revenue models, cash flow, and target markets can prevent costly mistakes. Plan accordingly to make an easy follow-through.
What does your IDEAL business look like? Even if you’re not there yet, what would it look like if your business was ideal?
My ideal business is one where I can create maximum impact – not just for individual clients, but for groups of business owners – helping them transform their mindset, overcome fears, and achieve success on their own terms. It’s a business that allows me to blend all my expertise – engineering logic, MBA strategy, Master NLP, facilitation, and project management – into coaching and workshops that are practical, insightful, and transformational. It also gives me financial, time, and location freedom: the flexibility to choose projects I’m passionate about, work with people I love, and live life on my terms.
Most importantly, it’s a business that empowers others – when my clients thrive in ways that align with their purpose and values, the ripple effect extends beyond their business, their life, and the people they love. That’s my vision of the ideal business.
What problem does being a Member of the HerBusiness Network solve for you and your business? And, how?
Being a member of the HerBusiness Network solves one of the biggest challenges for any business owner: connection and support with like-minded peers who understand the highs and lows of running a business. It gives me a space to share experiences, gain insights, and access practical advice that helps me grow faster and smarter.
I also love the inspiration it provides, especially in the marketing side of business. Learning how the network operates and supports its members has inspired me, because it’s a model I want to create too – but with my own focus: strategy, planning, out-of-the-box thinking, and execution. It’s exciting to see a framework in action and adapt it in a way that aligns with my strengths and how I help clients.
In short, it helps me stay inspired, accountable, and strategic, while building a business that reflects my purpose, values, and vision.
