HerBusiness Members, Ariane May and Eleni Mitakos were both featured in the August 2012 edition of Prevention Magazine.
Ariane May – Age of Enlightenment
The first article entitled “Age of Enlightenment” features 43 year old Ariane May, who made the very hard decision to have a baby on her own at the age of 40 and leave her husband of 10 years who did not want more children having previously experienced fatherhood, in his previous marriage.
“I finally realised that I wasn’t living the life I truly wanted – and that life included being a mother. Since that wasn’t a possibility in my marriage, as hard as it was, I had to make the break.” admits Ariane
Being a single mother meant that Ariane, had to put her job first for financial stability, but she had to be both mother and father to her little boy. However, in the end it became too much: “I decided that I didn’t want to have to leave him behind when I left for work every morning.” Instead, Ariane left her job as a national sales and marketing manager and opened up her own business, an online store featuring luxurious custom goods, for busy executive women. Having previously been a busy executive Ariane knows her market and uses it to her advantage. For more information on Ariane’s online store visit: www.byariane.com.au
Eleni Mitakos – What Does 41 Look Like?
ABN Member, Eleni Mitakos, who was also recently featured on Sydney Weekender and Channel 10’s Breakfast, has appeared in the same issue of Prevention in the article, “What Does 41 Look Like?” This details Eleni’s road to success, when she decided to give up her corporate career to spend more time with her children and start her own business educating women on her passion: the ins and outs of cars.
“I’ve worked as a dancer, teacher, corporate trainer and mouth model, but no matter what I was doing I never gave up my passion for cars” says Eleni “I love that I’m teaching women to be confident – and safe – in the driver’s seat. The other bonus? Glenn my husband – who’s restoring a hot rod – gets a kick out of telling people what I do for a living. It really ups my cool factor!”
