2014 Hall of Fame inductee and kikki.K founder Kristina Karlsson was featured in Stationery News article, “kikki.K founder joins female business hall of fame”, on 24 February 2014. Swedish-born Kristina Karlsson is a leading name in stationery worldwide, after opening her first kikki.K store in Melbourne in 2001. kikki.K stores are now in every state of Australia, as well as New Zealand and Singapore. CEO of the Australian Businesswomen’s Network Suzi Dafnis notes a lack of recognition for successful female business owners like Kristina.
“Of the two million people in Australia who own or operate a business, 33 per cent are women aged between 35 and 44, according to Australian Bureau of Statistics. But the lower numbers don’t reflect the impact these businesses have on the country’s wealth. Sadly, we just don’t see public recognition of their success.”
