This month, Open Colleges Australia’s online blog has been focused on recognising Australia’s most inspirational women online. Australian Businesswomen’s Network CEO Suzi Dafnis is one of the women featured. They spoke to her to discover her secrets for success.
When asked her number one secret to career success, Suzi stated that it was education, and an “ongoing commitment” to improving her business skills. However she also stated that access to inspiring role models and mentors has assisted her along the way.
To be able to select a career path, Suzi tells us to ask, “What would you do even if you didn’t get paid? What do you value most? Where do you feel you can make a difference?” She comments that her career path wasn’t set in stone, as she found herself after performing various marketing roles becoming a business owner at the age of 27. Suzi states that we can encourage and support more female entrepreneurs in Australia by promoting entrepreneurship as a career option in school and start to train on the basics of running a business, “instead of only steering people towards careers as employees.” Open Colleges blog canvasses a variety of topics in regular posts, such as career growth, changing careers, job hunting, networking topics and personal development.
