On 3 April 2013, HotelsCombined, the travel industry experts, named Rerbuessins member Linda Fairbairn as one of the top 10 Australian travel bloggers for 2013. HotelsCombined handpicked a selection of “the most inspiring, practical, and amusing travel anecdotes”, mentioning that Linda has interestingly attended garden parties at Buckingham Palace with the Queen and involved herself in other noteworthy escapades.
Proud, yet humble of being given this title, Linda Fairbairn says:
“…[I was] more proud when I saw who I was listed alongside – the other nine were all top travel bloggers that I both look up to and admire.”
Linda Fairbairn founded Journey Jottings in 2003, coming up with the idea of combining a map and a journal – the first Australia Map Journal. She details all the best Australian travel destinations from a local’s perspective. She shares her passion with HerBusiness saying:
“I’m helping travellers and holidaymakers simply enjoy their travel memories for years to come. Spending time with holiday memories is like taking a mini-break… if you have a Journal Map to remember them.”
She also believes that blogging is a critical part of running any business, saying:
“As the posts you write are niche-specific, they naturally improve your SEO… As relationships and trust have developed with my readers, new customers have been born.”
Some other reputable Australian travel blogs on the list included:
- Not Quite Nigella by Lorraine Elliot
- The Travel Tart by Anthony Bianco
- SheGoes by Emma Gardiner
- The Aussie Nomad by Chris Richardson
