Kris Lloyd is Head Cheese Maker and a specialist of goat and cow cheeses, producing fresh, white mould and matured cheeses. Kris has always had a passion for artisan food, but creating it herself was something that she never considered.
“My business happened a little by accident,” Kris says. “My instant love for the process (largely fermentation) and the creativity cheese making allowed was the core to the deep passion I now have and continue to have for my craft.”
Mentors and role models Kris has had many role models as a young woman and over her business career that have inspired her to achieve her best, take risks and understand the “complexities that a business can bring.” Recognition of industry women Kris thinks that it is most definitely possible for a greater awareness of women in the cheese making industry in Australia.
“I sometimes think it is perceived as a male role given it is mostly un-elegant and quite heavy work. Indeed most artisan cheese makers are female in Australia.”
Kris Lloyd has been inducted into the Businesswomen’s Hall of Fame in 2013.
