Member of the Week Johanna Baker-Dowdell, Strawberry Communications 
Journalist and blogger Johanna Baker-Dowdell owns and runs Strawberry Communications, a writing and public relations service in Tasmania that helps businesses tell their story. Strawberry Communications generates amazing publicity, and has just been selected as one of five finalists in American Express’ Take Off competition that will provide one entrepreneur with $10,000 and a digital and social media makeover to help fulfill their business vision.
“I could do with some help in how to be effective online without investing more time than I can afford,” says Johanna. “The prize would give me the guidance to hit some of the online goals, including establishing a more relevant presence in the sectors Strawberry Communications covers.”
As an expert storyteller, Johanna is passionate about making her business succeed and share the stories of other businesses through PR or as a journalist. “Technology allows me to run a successful business from home and social media offers excellent opportunities to spread the word,” she says. As a HerBusiness member and blogger, Johanna says that other HerBusiness members have inspired her for many years and that she hopes to do the same by showing them how to generate publicity to help their business grow and thrive.
