When Jane Cay married a farmer, she found herself in regional Australia with no practical skills. All she wanted was to have a passion about something and a reason to jump out of bed everyday. This passion was the leading factor for her decision to launch Birdsnest, an online fashion company. The Birdsnest team believes that the way an individual looks can change their whole life, and their range of fashion labels, styling and advice can bring excitement and ease to many women.
“Our motto is ‘for everything but the girl’. [Birdsnest] can outfit you from head to toe with everything from the slimming shape wear, to matching heels, to the jewellery that will top it all off. Birdsnest has over 250 suppliers which allows us to bring you the most desirable and affordable names in Australian fashion and accessories.”
Mentors and roles models Jane Cay has been very privileged to have some amazing role models and mentors in her life. Her family is first and foremost the most influential mentors of them all.
“I grew up in a family where small business was discussed daily at the dinner table. I have a father who has such an incredible passion for business, people and life that it was contagious. I caught the bug!”
Recognition of women Fortunately, Jane is proud of the recognition she has received within the business industry and is hopeful that other successful women will become more recognised.
“From my experience, I feel quite overwhelmed with the recognition that I have received as a woman in the industry. I hope that sharing positive stories about women in business encourages other women to take the plunge and believe in their dreams.”
