With great passion, comes great profit.
Passion is so important when growing your business. That’s what drives me, and I hope it drives you too. A great thing about passion is that passionate business people make more money than the non-passionate ones. They care more, they work smarter and their clients feel it.
If you focus your passion, you can add some zeros to your bottom line.
But, you and I both know, it’s not always easy to stay passionate when the stresses of life start nibbling at your toes! If you’re reading this, then you’re already ahead in the passion stakes because you’re obviously interested in networking and learning how to work smarter. Having said that, maybe you’re here because your passion has been flagging recently and you just need a little boost from your fellow ABN readers. So, no matter where you sit in your passion/energy cycle today, I’m still going to assume that you already share my passion to do great things for people… and make money while you do it.
The terrible life / money / stress / passion cycle.
It’s a terrible irony, when life, money and the stresses of small business starts getting you down you can lose your passion. And when you lose your passion, your business suffers… which makes you feel worse! If this is where you’ve been at, that vicious cycle needs to stop right here, right now. And we’ll talk about how in a second. It’s a really simple concept that I want to talk to you about today: The fires of your passion are flamed by loving the product or service you sell.
There’s nothing like having a sexy-hot service that excites, that engages… and one that’s fairly easy to deliver!
For example, I’m super passionate about delivering awesome websites to small businesses. But, as a young graphic designer I used to hate doing websites, I kid you not! The process dragged me down; Getting ripped off by greedy web developers, never knowing how long the project would take, never knowing if there’d be any profit left for me when it was finally ready. I was fed up and I nearly gave it all up. But, I knew web was the future for designers like me, I just had to be in it, so I searched for a better way. That’s why I started Web123. The whole concept was to do away with dodgy web developers and keep websites affordable AND effective for Australian small businesses. It opened up a whole new world to me and my clients, and I loved every minute of it! Every time I was able to deliver a great looking website in 2 weeks when it used to take me 6 to 12, I said ‘wow!’, and so did my clients! That’s what’s got me through all the little stresses of running a tech start-up. I was delivering something I was super proud of… and I still am! Fast forward 4 years and 1000 happy clients later, I’m so glad I found my passion for web. It excites me, and it makes all the long hours worthwhile. But I won’t lie, even in the fast-moving world of digital, doing the same thing for years can make your passion flag, just a little. That’s why I’m now at the cusp of another exciting project for Web123. One that helps all the non-techy design and print professionals, just like I was. I want to help them do web the easy way, without all the web developer headaches. I call it the ProPartner Program, and I know I shouldn’t hijack this post to talk about my own stuff, but I am SO blown away by the huge educational and web building resource my team and I have created that I’m completely reinvigorated. Anyhow, back to passion. What are YOU doing to stoke the flames of your passion?
The trick is to identify what you’re passionate about.
If you have nothing that excites you about your business then my god, why are you doing it at all? Do you and I need to have a one on one talk!?
Are you proud of what you do and what you sell? If the answer is yes, awesome! If the answer is no, could you find a way to do what you do even better?
Or, is the problem you’re in the wrong industry? Do you spend more time on your hobby than on your business? Could that mean it’s time to shake things up in your professional world? You’ll do far better at a job you’re passionate about than one you’re not. And that’s because…
Passion makes you stand out from the crowd!
Passion wins love and respect from your clients. Passion gets you more referrals. Passion gets you what WE get every day: raving fans. Whatever it is, take that passion… let your client’s see the excitement in your eyes or your voice. Passion is infectious and it breeds success. So, do yourself a favour: break the mould. Be better. Follow your passions, make your passions pay, and clients will seek YOU out. Until next time my fellow ABN’ers! Bianca P.S. Oh and if your only motivation and passion IS the money, well, probably best not to tell your clients why you look so happy when they walk in your door! Just sayin’…
