Taking care of business at work and at home can often leave you with little to no time for a complicated makeup regime. Sometimes even getting ten minutes alone in the morning is a challenge! Unfortunately, this can lead to an unpolished or under-groomed makeup look. Yet, finding a few easy steps that fit in with your schedule is all you need to put your best face forward. With so much choice in the makeup market, it’s easy to get overwhelmed as to where to start. Your best bet: keeping it simple by choosing a few versatile products that will help you save time and achieve a beautiful, flattering look without the fuss.
Tailoring your makeup to suit your clientele
If you prefer a natural look and can spare five minutes:
- Simply start off with freshly primed skin, then follow with a sheer wash of tinted moisturizer, a compact powder foundation for more coverage, or a spritz-and-go spray foundation for the easiest application
- Add a few coats of lash-lengthening black mascara to open up the eye area
- Finish with a subtle, rose-colored blush applied to the apples of the cheek and a slick of gloss.
And you’re done! Five minutes to fabulous! If you’re a bit more adventurous with colour or work in a more creative office environment, then experiment with some added colour or a new colour palette.
- The eyes are a key focus area of the face and are an important part of the way we communicate. For an easy, but chic eye shadow look, try adding nude, earthy tones.
- Follow with some subtle definition onto the top lash line or lower water line with your preferred choice of eyeliner. Don’t be afraid to try different shades of eyeliner that will complement your eye colour.
- For a fun lip statement, apply a bold lipstick or gloss in classic red, fashionable pink or on-trend orange. Changing your lipstick can make such a difference to your look with minimum effort.
In the work environment, there are definitely some things to save for the weekends: such as glitters, diamantes, over-the-top false lashes and heavy-handed application.
You don’t want someone noticing your makeup as such, but noticing you and what you have to say. Keep day makeup safe and flattering for the office; it should be about subtle enhancement, definition, and a little colour to lift your complexion – especially in that unflattering office lighting!
You should aim to look like the best version of yourself.
But remember, wearing too little makeup can be almost as much of a beauty crime as wearing too much. Just as you put effort into your outfit, you need to consider your hair and makeup equally. Even the smallest amount of effort can change your look from drab to fab in a matter of minutes.
