Annie Crawford is the Founder and Director of Can Too, a foundation that provides opportunities for participants to achieve goals, ranging from running a marathon to participating in an ocean swim.
Annie teamed with Macquarie Group Foundation and Cure Cancer Australia and formed the Can Too Run. The Can Too Run is a non-profit program that matches fitness incentives with a good cause, contributing all proceeds to Cure Cancer Australia.
Annie Crawford comes from a social work background and believes in principles of equality and justice.
Annie and her husband gained financial success and were very privileged by the reward. They knew it was their duty to share that privilege and do something that would give back to the community.
“I have never really been motivated by financial reward, but once I had it, I felt a desire and a duty to share it. I wanted to give back and I wanted to be part of making a difference. I wanted to support people in making changes to their lives. And the vehicle for that is Can Too!”
Mentors and role models
As a young woman, Annie admits that she never really had a mentor or role model. Now, in her 40s, she has found a group of other successful businesswomen who she can trust and go to for advice and bounce ideas off. And although Annie hasn’t yet sought a formal mentor, it is certainly something she is confident and willing to consider.

Recognition of industry women
Annie believes that women in industry are not sufficiently recognised for their success or their contribution to the economy.
“I was at a lunch with some women who were brought together to talk about empowering women in finance. We were talking about high profile successful and positive women who could be guest speakers. We noted how striking it was that there were so few women who had been recognised in industry, however we could all name many men.”
Annie Crawford has been inducted into the Businesswomen’s Hall of Fame in 2013. The Hall of Fame honours and celebrates Australian female business owners who demonstrate an inspiring and aspiring business journey.
