Picture this.
Think of your IDEAL Client – the Client that loves what you do. The Client YOU love to work with…
And imagine having more and more of those kinds of clients coming into your business every day – because you’ve put a reliable and repeatable marketing system in place that just works, day in and day out, with NO stress.
How might that change things for you?
How would it feel, knowing you have ALL the IDEAL clients you want?
How might that move you closer to your IDEAL Business and Life working with only ideal clients?
EVERYTHING in your business becomes clearer and more focused when you know who your Ideal Client is.
It helps you answer one of THE MOST essential questions you will ever ask in your business which is…
How do I get more of your IDEAL clients?
Discovering who your IDEAL Client is STARTS with CHOOSING your IDEAL Client.
Yep, really getting clear on WHO you want to work with and who you don’t.
Because while working with the wrong clients may not be life-threatening, it can make you pretty miserable!
And there are three things you want to pin-point about YOUR ideal clients so that you KNOW that you’re finding exactly who you want to do business with.
The Three Elements of An Ideal Client
The 1st area is Money
Does the Client have the budget for your products and services?
Can they afford you?
If not, perhaps you want to target someone different.
For example, for a long time, we were trying to offer our premium courses and mentoring to women who were JUST starting in business. But they didn’t have a viable business yet, so it was too big a leap for them to come on board and buy these premium services.
Are they the type of Client that haggles on price, or do they see the value in what you sell?
Are they able to pay on time, or do you have to chase them?
What do you know about the amount they might spend regularly on your product or service like yours?
And what do you think is their overall financial health?
Are they in debt, have little to spend, are they wealthy, or somewhere in between?
The 2nd important area is Lifestyle
What do you notice about where your clients live (or where their office is located if a business)?
For example, if you’re a gym, you have a beauty salon, or you work 1:1 in person with people, it’s most likely you will want to choose to target those that live or work close to your location.
How old are your ideal clients?
Do they have young children?
If, for example, the clients you are targeting are juggling home duties and small children, they may not be ideal for a week-long intensive outdoor experience.
Or, if they’re retiring, they may have no interest in how to advance their career or get a new job.
Do they have a job, or do they own a business? What kind of industries do they work in?
Do they belong to particular sporting or social or cultural groups?
Make some notes on your IDEAL Client Chooser.
For example, what do you notice about your Ideal Client’s Lifestyle that could be relevant to you?
The 3rd area is Mindset
Mindset is a BIG one! I know that I LOVE working with businesswomen who want to find an expert they can trust, who’s willing to embrace new ways of doing things and who understand that the results they get are on par with the effort they put in the investment they make in themselves.
What do you notice about the psychology of your IDEAL clients?
- Do they often feel anxious and afraid, or are they risk-takers?
- Do they have any firmly held beliefs?
- What might be their attitude to the problem you help them solve?
- What are they most worried about right now?
- What do they want most right now?
What do you notice about your Ideal Client’s Mindset, attitudes and beliefs that could be relevant to you?
Jot it down.
The next part of this process is to think specifically about the people who are NOT your ideal clients. Knowing who is NOT your Ideal Client is a very powerful part of the IDEAL Client Chooser.
It’s incredible how clarifying this process can be! Knowing who your IDEAL Client is NOT — gives you MORE focus on where and how to market and where not.
Once you CHOOSE your IDEAL Client, you’ve completed an essential step in finding more clients.
When you complete this first step, you will start to see your IDEAL Client – really coming into focus.
And, as your WHO starts to focus, your mind will naturally turn to “HOW” can I get them to begin this journey with me up the Marketing Mountain?”
I love this quote from author John Jantsch who says:
“Until you know who you must work with, who you choose to work with, it’s far too easy to take work and customers that drag you away from the work you DESERVE to be doing.”
Working with people, you love… people you were BORN to serve – that’s what lights you up – that’s what gives you momentum and creates your IDEAL business and your IDEAL life.
So, take time to determine:
- The MONEY situation
- The LIFESTYLE situation
- The MINDSET situation
… of your Ideal Client.
Once you CHOOSE your IDEAL Client, you’ve completed an essential step in finding more clients.
When you complete this first step, you will see your IDEAL Client coming into focus.
And, as your WHO starts to come into focus, your mind will naturally turn to “HOW” can I get them to begin this journey with me.
Helping women find more of their Ideal Clients is what we love to do every single day inside of the HerBusiness Network.
