HerBusiness CEO and Community Director, Suzi Dafnis, was featured in the Australian Gift and Homewares Association’s, Gift Rap magazine, in a story titled, Help is on its way in which she discussed the benefits a mentor can offer small-business owners. In the interview Suzi explained the one thing that Oprah, Richard Branson and Facebook CEO Sheryl Sandberg all have in common. Apart from their great success as entrepreneurs, all three credit their business mentors as playing a crucial role in their careers. She also outlined tips for finding a great mentor including:
“You don’t want someone who has a controlling personality and is going to tell you what to do. The balance of power changes over time. At the beginning, the mentor takes the leadership, but then over time, it’s about them empowering you to stand on your own. You want someone who is looking to foster you.”
