WE ARE ALL STUDENTS
I love it!
Knowledge is one of my greatest values, and acquired knowledge has been crucial to my business success.
The knowledge I needed when I started my first business over 27 years ago when I was totally clueless about business is different from the knowledge I seek now.
That’s why I always put myself in the role of STUDENT.
This week I’m a student again, attending a 2-day business mastermind program in the US.
I’m so excited.
Being a student FUELS me.
It’s FUN.
And it’s essential to my BUSINESS GROWTH and my PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT.
Because things change.
In my first business, most of our marketing was direct mail (hello printed newsletters, postcards, letters).
Today, most of our marketing is online – emails, podcasts, webinars, and social media.
Making the shift to how we market took getting back in the learner’s seat again and again to gain email marketing and podcasting skills, understand how to run profitable webinars, write landing pages, to create online challenges and courses.
I’ve had to get back in student mode again. And again.
Every year I invest many thousands of dollars (and I mean MANY) in my knowledge.
It’s how I evolve as a business owner.
Being a student has a direct correlation to my business results.
As a business owner, you never want to stop being a student.
And, HERE IS THE KEY…
It’s ONLY the knowledge that I’ve put INTO ACTION that has made one bit of difference to my life and business.
- The knowledge that is filed away and not acted on
- The digital course that is sitting on my hard drive
- The course binder gathering dust on a shelf, and
- The subscription that I purchased and did not use
None of this knowledge is giving me a return on investment of my time and energy.
When I combine KNOWLEDGE + ACTION, I get = BREAKTHROUGH.
I can’t wait to see what I implement after wearing my STUDENT ‘hat’ this week.
