Being able to turn a beloved passion into a viable business is a dream that many of us share, and Tracy Buchholz has achieved this dream with her business Layered Creations.
Her interest in sewing, embroidery, and quilting started with a love of crafts in her childhood, and grew as she began taking classes and workshops in the trades.
She started her online shop during her pregnancy with her third child, and as her children grew older and became more independent, she knew it was time to start putting more focus into her business.
Her goal with Layered Creations is to allow it to replace her current fulltime employment, and eventually establish a bricks and mortar store to complement the online shop.
In addition to selling a wide variety of products, such as an assortment of fabrics, tools, and kits, Tracy also loves sharing her knowledge with others.
Teaching crafting workshops is another great passion of hers and has been a large part of her career. Tracy is always willing to pass on wisdom gained from her own experiences to help others help themselves.
Her vision for her business is to create “a place where you can learn, be inspired, connect, share and access quality products and workshops at a time that is suitable for you, wherever you happen to be located.”
Tracy’s initial reason for joining HerBusiness was spurred by her desire to find a place where she could learn from and connect to other likeminded businesswomen.
Since joining, she’s taken advantage of the access to many training opportunities, webinars, and mentoring available to members of the community.
Her participation in some online roundtables was particularly impactful.
Her advice to other business owners, and anyone that has set any goals or dreams that they’d like to achieve, is to not give up on them. “Don’t give up on your dreams,” she says, “no matter how big or small, they are definitely achievable!”
