It’s easy to get lost in the ‘online marketing’ world, especially if you are signed up to receive all the newsletters, reports, tips and tools and tricks.
So what do you do? Where do you start? What do you implement?
The best piece of advice I ever received when I began online marketing was “Unsubscribe to every single newsletter you subscribe to except one or two, and then.. use the advice they are providing and IMPLEMENT IT!!!” So that’sexactly what I did! And here’s what I learned:
How do I launch on online marketing campaign?
The first step you need to take is to set a goal and outcome for your campaign.
- Is your goal to receive new leads?
- Do you want new customers/sales?
- Do you want to set appoinunents to sell something?
- Do you have an eBook you want to sell or give away?
The second step is to do some research. Find out what keywords people are already searching for. You can use tools such as www.freekeywords.com or www.wordtracker.com, these will tell you how many people are searching for that keyword and will also give you some alternative keywords you may not have thought of using.
The third step is to launch an **Adwords Campaign – this is the most cost-effective way to start marketing online; it doesn’t require a huge outlay to begin and you can monitor and track your results.
The fourth step is test, test, test and test some more. Always keep track of how your ads performed and make only small measured changes at a time. There’s nothing worse than getting good results, changing a nunber of ad components and suddenly losing clicks and conversions.
In terms of your online marketing budget, a benefit of Adwords is that you can start with any amount you wish – $50 per month, $100 per month, even $1000 if your budget allows.
What are the dos and don’ts of online marketing?
The dos are: test and measure everything. There’s nothing worse than spending money without any knowledge of the return on your investment.
How do I know how effective my marketing campaign is?
Sign up to Adwords Analytics and activate the Conversion Tracking, this will assist you to measure the results and determine the effectiveness of your campaign.
What are the biggest mistakes people make with online marketing?
The biggest mistakes people make are investing money, time and energy into a campaign they haven’t researched. For example, you could spend $1000 a month on a campaign promoting the keywords ‘how to reduce debt*’ when a little research might have indicated that for $500 you could have achieved double the results with different keywords that have less competition. *Please note that the keywords “how to reduce debt” are intended as an example only for the purpose of this article and have not been tested.
You must do your research and you must test your keywords. More often than not, you can find a teally good keyword that is not being utilised to its capacity, has a low bid rate and many people are searching for it. Using such a keyword will make you the money online and assist in bringing you a high conversion rate.
