Here at the Australian Businesswomen’s Network, we know from first-hand experience, and from working with thousands of our members all around Australia, that “Making It” in business can be really tough! If you’re relatively new to running a business, you’ve likely got so many new things you’ve got to learn and do coming at you all at the same time, it can really feel like you’re paddling the wrong way up a raging river and not getting anywhere… even though you’re giving it everything you’ve got (and getting exhausted in the process). And if you’ve been in business for a while, and perhaps even got some great runs on the board, you’ve probably discovered that your success has created new challenges like juggling a growing team, funding your expansion and having to make the leap to a whole new level of leadership and systemisation, now that it’s not just you and a couple of team members working from one small office. For the past 16 years, the ABN has recognised Australia’s most successful female entrepreneurs through our Businesswomen’s Hall of Fame program. To date more than 160 women have been inducted (some very well known and others who are quieter achievers), from businesses large and small. And, over time, we began to notice ONE THING each of these top businesswomen kept telling us over and over again when we asked them their secret to “Making It”. It was striking how many of our Hall of Fame inductees listed this ONE THING as a key piece of advice they’d give to other business women looking to emulate their success. It turns out their advice is backed up by the facts. Studies have shown that 70% of business owners who do this ONE THING will survive in business twice as long as those who don’t. And, they are 20% more likely to experience growth in their business than those who don’t. So, if we all agree “Making It” can be tough, let’s make sure as many business owners as possible know how to make that process a little easier! That’s why I am so excited to share this ONE THING with you, along with some of the stories from our inspiring Hall of Fame Inductees who are proof you can radically transform your business when you do this. And I’ve also got an idea for how you can be doing it too.
