LUKE HARTSUYKER MP
Federal Member for Cowper Shadow Minister for Regional Communications, Youth and Sport Deputy Leader of Opposition Business in the House of Representatives Small businesses in the electorate of Cowper: 10,800*
What is your small business story?
“I have grown up in a small business family which has owned and operated a business since the 1950’s. From 1990 until joining parliament I worked in the family enterprise. I have gained extensive experience in this area and I am still a partner in the business, but no longer active in the day to day running of it.”
What has your experience with small business taught you?
“Small business is a very difficult environment in which to operate, there are risks, also rewards and benefits.
People who have not worked in small businesses do not understand the difficulties and government bureaucrats are clueless as to how it operates.”
What message do you have for Australia’s small business owners?
“The Federal Coalition actively encourages small business and will reduce red tape, which has been a major impediment to its development. In the past there has been talk of reduction of red tape, but that has just been talk, the Coalition will change all that. When you grow a small business you grow the economy. More small businesses equal more jobs – it’s that simple.”
