As a Neuro Strategist, I am fascinated by simple brain processes that produce astounding outcomes. Recently, I have been interviewing some brilliant entrepreneurs to pull out their neural strategies for success and driving motivation.
What I discovered was the levels of the entrepreneur’s mindset — how we can grow and evolve into the person we want to be, the life we want to have, and the legacy we want to leave.
At the top of the pyramid are the GIFTED: those with a curious mind, the idea factories. They naturally ask “how” as their primary question at the heart of any and ever endeavour. Something along the lines of: “How does it work?”, “How can I make it work?” or “How can I make it better?” Once their outcome is achieved, they do not settle (as that would be facing a life of sheer drudgery and boredom!). They will either ask the question, “How can I do this better?” or they will move on to the next project.
Undergirding this process is a tremendously strong belief that they can and will achieve the outcome. They fervently fight off any doubt or negativity that attempts to slight this core belief.
On the next level are the LEARNERS. Those with desire who need a plan and strategy, so they seek out the path to achieving. They have a belief in themselves but not as strong as the first group and can be swayed either way.
Finally, we have the FIGHTERS. Those who battle the labels of “not good enough”, “you can’t do it” and/or “who do you think you are to achieve …” This is not the natural human neural process, but a learned pathway due to external environment.
This is where epigenetics come in to play, the governing principal being: take a healthy cell and put it in an unhealthy environment and the cell will become unhealthy. Take an unhealthy cell and place it in a healthy environment and it will become healthy.
The default human mindset is to BELIEVE. However, place a child in a sea of negativity and that default can quickly turn to unbelief and doubt.
From here, we look at quantum physics and what’s known as ‘Super Position’. The principal that at any given moment, we have choice. Even if we are incarcerated in solitary confinement, we have choices: what to think, meanings we give things, how to move or not. Every moment of every day, we have an abundance of choices we can make or not.
Although this third position in the mindset of success is one that comes with a challenge, it is also a gift — for from the greatest challenges come the greatest gifts, if we are willing to see, open and receive them.
This is where the fighter must rise; choosing to see, accept and BELIEVE the truth instead of lies. That they ARE worthy of success and that they ARE able. Fighting off the doubts, searching for the knowledge, tools and strategies that will equip them to achieve their vision. Taking action to apply them.
Interestingly, the worlds greatest entrepreneurs most commonly evolved from the “FIGHTER” position in childhood, proving the greatest gifts come from the greatest trials.
No matter where you are right now on your entrepreneurial mindset journey, I wish you great choices, quality questions, truth and action that will lead you to greater and greater success!
