Briefly tell us about your business and how you got started.
The business is a host farm which markets itself as an “on-farm experience” through close interaction with our guests and the day-to-day operations on the farm. The business diversified in April 2000 due to persistent droughts and falling cattle markets.

What have been your major challenges?
Overcoming the mind set that traditional farming pursuits would not complement a hosted farm venture.
Who has been your greatest mentor?
Rob Lang, my accountant, who has always encouraged me to dare to take risks.
KerryChater (Dolphin Consulting) for sharing her business hints and her friendship. I met Kerry through a recommendation from Women on Boards and it was through this networking that we met and she became mymentor and friend.
How do you stand out from your competitors?
Our dedication to customer service which is demonstrated in the way we invite our guests into our home and to become part of our family for their stay.
Where would you like to see your business in five years from now?
I would like to maintain the award-winning service and accommodation currently offered by the business but expand the activities offered to be more eco-friendly and culturally sensitive. We are currently working towards our Eco-Toursim Accreditation and building networks with key stakeholders to enable this to occur.
