Briefly tell us about your business and how you got started.
Pinklily is a glamorous mail order company specialising in clear storage boxes for women’s shoes, men’s shoes, boots and handbags. I started pinklily in 2005 due to the increasing need for women to be able to shop without leaving home. Whether it was going to be a catalogue or website – women are too busy to shop in a retail environment so creating a company which had great products, divine packaging with instant delivery I knew would be not only needed but seriously wanted! Fortunately it wasn’t only my Australian clients who had this need: pinklily has expanded not only nationally but now supplies over five international countries with boxes and all things gorgeous.
What have been your major achievements?
Everyday is a major achievement – the largest achievement each day is being a mummy and running a company, therefore remembering to pick my daughter up from school each day let alone design meetings and marketing forecasts are certainly challenges I face every minute! I love absolutely every second of pinklily – a true testament to living an absolute passion. The opportunity of television work has been amazing – presenting my company on the shopping channel, being interviewed by A Current Affair for my achievements and now appearing on Kerrie Anne Kennerley has all been an incredible achievement.
What have been your major challenges?
The hardest part of any day is balancing my work time and mummy time. It is often extremely hard to separate the two. Constantly the demand from overseas is hindered due to our enormous freight prices. My company could be global instantly if there were cheaper options available for international freight.
Who has been your greatest mentor?
My parents are my greatest mentors. I have the work ethic from my father – he is responsible for my famous 5am starts! And my mother’s style and advice on absolutely everything I do! My daughter is a constant inspiration for me to continually set goals and thankfully achieve them. As there is only the two of us – creating a successful business along with a fabulous lifestyle is truly rewarding.
How do you stand out from your competitors?
I have certainly created a lot of competitors! The world is enormous. There is enough out there for all of us! They wouldn’t be imitating something they thought wasn’t working!
I am constantly changing my website, thinking of new products to manufacture and design. pinklily is a complete experience of service, quality and original product ideas – and that is what my clients love!
Where would you like to see your business in five years from now?
I would love to see pinklily as an internationally recognised brand. I would love to be involved with a number of charities and personally for me to inspire thousands of young women to work with passion, enthusiasm and energy.
What are your Top Five Strategies for Success?
Work ethic is so important. If you are going to own your own business or be great at what you do – passion, commitment and time is imperative! A great sense of humour doesn’t go astray and truly believing that you can achieve your goals!
