Shari Freeman, Business Manager of Ngurra Barna, has an extensive history in community development. She has worked with youth, Aboriginal communities and even with the Tongan government as a youth development advisor. She grew up in a country town, so she understands the importance of working with organisations that value community and equality.
In her role with Ngurra Barna, Shari is responsible for the not-for-profit’s business planning and development. Therefore, Shari had a lot to gain as a scholarship recipient to Australian Businesswomen’s Network’s course ‘Business Plans Made Easy’, a scholarship provided in partnership with the Australian Scholarships Foundation. The course prompted attendees to reconsider their organisation’s vision, market research and competitor analysis and to develop a unique selling position. Shari was able to develop a one-page business plan for the organisation. This, she says, “assisted me to develop a better understanding about my business, its position in the market and how I can move and grow my business in the direction I want it to go.”
Overall, she says, “I feel the course will contribute to the growth and development of our organisation and the achievement of our vision.”
Ngurra Barna is a business services company that provides capacity building models for Aboriginal corporations, predominantly with Traditional Owners in the Pilbara, Midwest and Gascoyne areas.
