Sarah Adamson founded The Happiness Experts, a company that helps businesses and organisations create staff well-being in order to increase productivity and profitability. By providing workshops, seminars and coaching, the company aims to optimise team culture and well-being. Inspired by her desire to help people achieve their best, Sarah believes that greater job satisfaction allows people to become more positive and to enjoy life in general more. Being based in the country has had its own challenges, though – one of which was finding a market for her services.
The Australian Businesswomen’s Network has helped Sarah create important connections and networking relationships with other women in the same position.
With access to its online resources and webinars, Sarah is privy to professional expertise without having to travel from her remote location.
“The ABN has afforded me a network of like-minded women to interact with, learn from, and share my expertise with,” she says.
To consolidate her knowledge of finance, Sarah also participated in the ABN’s Small Business Finance Course, which she says has been helpful in creating financial goals for her own business. Sarah uses online technologies as the foundation of her business strategies. She conducts webinars, which are useful for interacting with the audience as well as saving time. Even better, they can be recorded and sent out to participants when necessary. Sarah takes advantage of the networking opportunities within her local community through a variety of streams. She is a board member of Regional Development Australia and the local Chamber of Commerce, and makes regular donations to encourage businesses to learn their potential capacity and take action. Sarah’s advice for women who are looking to start their own business in a regional or remote community is:
“Network – it is absolutely vital to growing your business. Listen to what the market wants, rather than what you want to provide. The ABN is also useful and can assist with information, ideas, and a registry of like-minded women willing to support you to create a fantastic business.”
Think outside the square and love what you do!
