GAI BRODTMANN MP
Federal Member for Canberra Small businesses in the electorate of Canberra: 13,900*
What is your small business story?
“Before entering Parliament, I ran my own communication consultancy for ten years. The decision to start my business was one of the toughest and riskiest I’ve ever made, but it was well worth it. I loved every minute of running my own business, and I plan to return to it after my parliamentary career.”
What has your experience with small business taught you?
“That: Success only comes from hard work and innovation.
A quality product must be delivered on time, every time.
You need to be flexible and responsive to changing environments and client needs. You need to anticipate the future and ensure you have the skills to succeed in that future. Working for yourself is challenging, but incredibly rewarding. Canberra is home to thousands of vibrant and creative small and micro businesses that are providing amazing services and products and selling them on the national and international stage.”
What message do you have for Australia’s small business owners?
“As the founding Chair of the Parliamentary Friendship Group for Small Business and Chair of the Labor Small Business Caucus Committee, I am listening to your issues and advocating for the right policy settings for you to succeed.”
