“I always loved small business and would jump into any conversation with excitement and so many ideas.”
After several years working in various marketing roles in the corporate world, and taking some time off to raise a family, Lily Rudolph started her own Marketing and Mindset Mentoring business – Align Marketing.
Lily believes in marketing your business from the inside out. Getting your marketing message and activities aligned with you is the critical first step that makes growing your business so much easier and more fun!
She supports her clients in growing their business by helping them get clear on their vision, gifts and talents and then helping them to articulate their offering in a way that feels aligned and draws in their dream clients.
Lily says “I feel so privileged to help my fellow sister’s in business to be empowered to share and grow their businesses with confidence – no longer worrying about the exact words to use, getting blank stares when they say what they do or feeling salesy.”.
Who’s your favourite entrepreneur and why?
Richard Branson. He is a fabulous example of loving life, overcoming hurdles and giving it a go. He also empowers his people. I love this combination of business acumen and care for people.
What do you enjoy most about running your own business?
I love the creativity and connection with other women. I get so fulfilled by their Aha’s and knowing I have made a real difference.
I enjoy the variety and flexibility of doing things my way and knowing that I can build it to wherever my imagination can take me.
What three pieces of advice do you wish you’d been given when you started?
- Create a budget for help and think deeply about what you need and who would be a good fit.
- You don’t have to know everything, what you know and who you are is enough to get out there and ‘play’.
- Get systems / boundaries in place early.
What advice would YOU give someone thinking about starting a business?
Start with yourself. Get clear on your core values, vision and skills.
Make sure there is a market for what you want to offer and allow yourself to rework it till it feels right (not perfect).
Give yourself permission to shine! Your clients are looking for YOU. Believe in yourself and get yourself around others with this mindset early on.
Be honest with yourself. What do you want from the business and make sure you are willing to do what it takes.
What skills and knowledge areas would you recommend those starting out in business get acquainted with quickly?
Build resilience.
Do some market research to help refine your offering to what people need and want.
Practice sharing your message as much as you can as often as you can.
What does your IDEAL business look like? Even if you’re not there yet.
I would have several streams of income and be standing fully in my power. I would collaborate with other amazing women and have varied opportunities and programs.
I would feel balanced in my work and home life and may business would provide me total fulfilment and an opportunity to empower others less fortunate through women’s charity.
It would always feel in flow and more like play than work.
What problem does being a Member of the HerBusiness Network solve for you and your business? And, how?
Being a member of HerBusiness is a great way for me to connect with other like minded business owners and not be too isolated working from home.
It enables me to share my message and grow personally and professionally. Growth and connection are part of my core values and I see this as a platform for both.
