Cat Matson of Impactful Presenters is a successful entrepreneur who has been speaking, presenting and facilitating (professionally) for 25 years. Cat started her business to escape a job she didn’t like, and no longer wanted to be in a position where she stayed in a role because she relied on the salary. Cat enjoys the creative, time, and expressive freedom that comes with running her own business.
Cat was suggested to try Stu McLaren’s ‘The Membership Experience’ program. While doing that program, she couldn’t figure out what she wanted her membership business to be about, so she thought she’d ‘test’ the model by teaching people how to speak. Three years later that business she created ‘by accident’, Impactful Presenters, is now Cat’s dream business and allows her to express her purpose in life, which is to empower other leaders, business owners, and public servants to make positive impacts in their community … one conversation at a time.
Cat helps business owners, leaders and change makers who ramble or lose their words when they need them the most to speak with confidence, authority and impact through her online Impactful Presenters Program.
Cat’s 10-week online program, The Impactful Presenters Program gives people the frameworks to naturally shape their message, authentically find their voice and impactfully influence their audience. While reflecting on the early days of her business, Cat shared with us three pieces of advice she wished she’d been given when she started:
- Don’t waste your time with a website or perfect branding – just start with what you have.
- Surround yourself with people who’ll support you with encouragement and honest truths … and people who know when you need which :-)
- Imitate before you innovate. Cat was given this advice when she started and it’s a key reason why her business is thriving (compared to other ventures she’s started in the past).
Cat says that being part of the Marketing Success Mastermind Program at HerBusiness has been instrumental in solving her “marketing how-to” problems, while The REACH Retreat has helped her to dream big and realise those aspirations. Cat says that the HerBusiness Network solved the “social” problem for her by providing a platform to connect with like-minded business owners.
