With over 10 years of marketing experience across a number of sectors including hospitality, education, mining, agriculture and retail. Bianca Dantl classifies herself as a marketing generalist with a passion for writing and communications.

For the past five years, Bianca has helped small businesses take advantage of the opportunities now available in marketing so they can effectively achieve their goals with her business Soundslashimage.

At Soundslashimage, Bianca involves her client in the planning process and training them where possible, ensuring her clients are making an investment not only in their business but also enhancing their skills as a business owner.

Bianca enjoys working with small, local businesses. Being hands-on and showing her clients how to implement marketing in their business allows her to celebrate the wins with her clients.

Who’s your favourite entrepreneur and why?

“Oprah Winfrey would have to be the entrepreneur most inspirational to me.

I find the way that she has built her career and continues to have a caring and charitable side to her.”

What do you enjoy most about running your own business?

“I love the diversity of running my own business – everything from the strategic planning and accounting through to the marketing.

I also love working one on one with the client, teaching them and seeing how my skills and assistance are helping to build their businesses.”

What piece of advice do you wish you’d been given when you started?

“You don’t need to have all of the answers in the beginning. You will learn the right lessons along the way.”

What advice would YOU give someone thinking about starting a business?

• If you have that burning desire to do it then don’t hold back – there is no time like the present.
• Life will always get in the way and something will always come up. That’s just the nature of the ride.
• If starting a business is something you truly want to do, then don’t let life stop you. Start small and slowly build it up.

What skills and knowledge areas would you recommend those starting out in business get acquainted with quickly?

“I would recommend putting a plan in place to provide your business with direction.

Understand the financial requirements of your business e.g. find out how much tax you need to put aside and have a separate account for it, do you need to register for GST. Speaking to an accountant can definitely help set the framework from the beginning.”

What does your IDEAL business look like? Even if you’re not there yet, what would it look like if your business was ideal?

“Soundslashimage would be my sole source of income and professional development, providing me with the flexibility to dedicate time to family as well as providing opportunities to continue to assist my clients.”

“Being a member of HerBusiness has removed the isolation of being a small business owner and provided a support network that I didn’t have before.

It has challenged my thinking regarding my business so that I can find new ways to grow it.”
