“Two days ago, I achieved a milestone that I’m really proud to share – 365 days of Miracle Mornings. The result is three full journals of my scribings and many impacts over this time, including: I am much happier and calmer, have a clearer vision and bold goals, work regularly on My One Thing – and getting great results. BE BOLD AND BECOME EXTRAORDINARY!” – Prue Saxby
One year ago, we sent a copy of The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod to every HerBusiness Network member as a part of our book club. As a huge advocate for lifelong learning, I am always reading any book I can get my hands on and then send the “NetworkHERs” (as we call ourselves) the best of the best.
It’s a great read, but here’s the thing – most people read books, feel motivated for a few days, and then go back to their same old habits. Not Prue.
And when grant master Prue Saxby of Indigo Gold received the book, she didn’t just read it… she LIVED it. Every single day for an entire year. Here’s what happened.
What is The Miracle Morning?
The idea behind The Miracle Morning is simple: how you start your day sets the tone for everything that follows. Those first moments after waking up can either set you up for success and productivity or leave you feeling behind and already exhausted (we all know what happens when we scroll first thing in the morning.)
The book introduces the acronym of “SAVERS”, a framework for creating a well-balanced morning.
- Silence
- Affirmations
- Visualisation
- Exercise
- Reading
- Scribing
This isn’t a morning routine that has to take 2 hours. You can spend 1 minute on each task or 20 minutes on each – you just have to complete each one each day.
And for Prue, this daily exercise ended up changing how she navigated life, her business, and even changed how OTHERS saw her.
365 Days of The Miracle Morning
After a full YEAR of waking up and checking off each of these six categories, Prue said she had so much more clarity and focus around what her day would look like. When we intentionally set our day, instead of jumping into distractions or wasting time on our phones, your day gets clearer. Your goals get clearer. Your priorities get clearer. You can cut through the noise and make progress on the most important goals.
She found that she was more in control of her time and where she spent her energy. Rather than catching whatever was thrown her way, she approached her work with more confidence, more intention. Other women inside the Marketing Mastermind said that Prue was exuding a centredness and confidence from starting the ritual.
Her business, Indigo Gold, benefited too. She helps organisations secure grants and funding — which has a LOT of moving pieces. But thanks to her clear head and a structured start to the day, she was more able to focus on the high-impact tasks instead of getting caught in the daily weeds (like SO many of us do.)
And then, there is the resilience. I’m sure you know how HARD it is to commit to something like this. How difficult it is to get up early every single day and hold yourself accountable.
It seems so easy to just skip a day, right?
That’s where Prue’s resilience came through. Her grit. Her determination. She had multiple major roadblocks over that year, but she held herself to a standard – to do what she said she would do.
Over that year, that simple morning routine – one that could be just 5 minutes on the busy days – turned into a SYSTEM. It turned into something to rely on and look forward to. It became an opportunity (one we ALL need to start prioritising) to be intentional and centred.
What Can Systems and Habits Do for YOU?
As business owners, we are ALWAYS juggling everything. The finances, the marketing, the kids, the spouse, the team, the payroll, the bl**dy laundry.
So starting our day with a practice like this — and sticking to it… that makes all the difference.
And seeing another woman business owner like Prue doing it is an inspiration we all likely need right now. Success is NOT about pushing, pushing, pushing… It is about setting up systems for yourself that help you grow.
When you have those solid habits in place, you don’t have to rely on willpower alone. You create a structure that supports your goals. That’s why, inside the HerBusiness Network, we focus so much on building smart systems — whether they be for sales, marketing, leadership, or personal growth.
If you’re feeling stuck, stretched too thin, or like your business is running YOU, it is not because you’re not working hard enough. It’s likely because you don’t have those systems in place.
