Have you ever been so excited about an idea that it’s all you think about? You can see, and even feel, it’s potential. You really want to do it, and you’re almost dancing a jig inside with the potential of it.
But, instead of announcing a big fat YES to the world, you keep thinking about it. So much so that you think your way out of it before it’s even had a chance to get out of your head and into the world.
You’ve suffocated your beautiful idea with the weight of the How.
What if you said YES sooner?
Last week, I leapt into an idea before I had the chance to think my way out of it. To be honest, the idea felt too big to even say out loud, but once I did, it was live in less than 24 hours.
This week I’ve welcomed dozens of amazing entrepreneurs into that wild idea, and it’s created a momentum I had never imagined.
As BIG as this idea seems, it’s inspired so many women to think bigger and back themselves in 2018.
It’s helped them come out of hiding and admit they’ve been playing really, really small.
It’s created a collective energy and momentum that is a force to be reckoned with.
And it’s opened my heart and blown my mind to what’s truly possible when we take action before the fear and doubt kicks in.
That is the power of saying YES to ideas that excite you before you know the How.
But how do I know it’s the right idea to go after?
- You feel it. I get dozens of ideas every day. Some are great, some are not so great. Some are perfect for me, and others may be perfect for someone else. This BIG idea gave me a visceral and physical reaction. The thought of even allowing it to pass my lips felt scary. But there was a deep rumbling and nervous energy within me that I couldn’t shake. As I announced the idea via a Facebook Live, I had chills and sweaty pits all at once.
- The idea is bigger than you. I’m not normally one to talk about the money side of things, let alone put an actual figure on it. But I decided to set a personal goal of $100k in 100 days. I felt icky about saying it out loud, and I had absolutely no intention of sharing it with anyone. But it made me feel so uncomfortable and felt so far away, that I knew it was what I needed to truly stretch me into who I want to become. Once I realised that I knew it would help others stretch themselves into who they want to become. To be honest it’s not really about the money or the $100k goal. It’s about the transformation that comes when we allow ourselves to believe it’s possible.
But I need to know the details…
I know you do. I want to as well. But it’s when I let go of the need to have it all figured out, that the magic can happen.
Whenever I have said YES before I knew the how it’s pushed me to figure it out rather than back out.
It’s about trusting that the How will show itself as you go.
We all have access to so many resources that it can be overwhelming. But when you have a set focus on what it is you want to create, you can access whatever it is you need.
Of course, there have been times this week when I wanted to dive deep into the How. But that’s when I felt super stuck. When I stepped back from that need to know right away, everything just flowed.
Now I get that plans, structure and plenty of lead time can be an absolute blessing and roadmap to success for many parts of our business. I’m not suggesting you throw all of that out the window.
What I am saying is when an idea grabs you at the visceral level, you need to act quickly before you think your way out of it and say no to all the people that idea will impact.
