Meet Angela Counsel – Member Podcaster
What is the name of your podcast?
Wise Women Conversations
When did you launch your podcast?
Early 2019
How would you best describe your podcast? What is the show about?
WWC is a podcast for women over 45 who are moving into the next stage of their life. We cover lots of different topics that impact women in their mid-stage of life including menopause, exercise, body confidence, spirituality, personal development plus so much more. The podcast episodes alternate between a conversation between host Angela and another Wise Woman and solo episodes by Angela where she shares information to help women navigate menopause with ease.
Why did you decide to start a podcast?
This is my 4th podcast, I first started podcasting about 8 years ago to share information with an audience. Over the years I have mainly done interview style episodes because I love learning about what other people (mainly women) are doing. My previous podcasts have been in the genres of general health & wellbeing, work/life balance, business and now I am all about menopause and moving through mid-life with ease.
Tell us about your business…
I am a menopause coach and I help women in their mid-40s by providing them with support and understanding so that they can embrace the changes that are happening to their body and their life. I do this through personalised health and lifestyle programs and transformational retreats.
How does your podcast support your business activity? Or is it a separate, hobby project?
My podcast helps me to share information, to grow my audience and to meet (and sometimes collaborate) with other women in business.
What advice would you offer women who are thinking about starting their own podcast?
Podcasts can be hard work, you need to consistently put out episodes and often you don’t know who is listening. It can be disheartening when you start when only a few people listen to you but if you really want to make a difference through podcasting keep going because you never know who is listening and the difference you can make in someone’s life. I was once running a live workshop and a woman who I had never met before came up and asked me “do you have a podcast called Wise Women Conversations”, when I said yes she told me that she listened to it all the time and really enjoyed it and learnt so much from it. That’s why I have a podcast.
