“Making It” in business can be really hard.
Like, not just difficult… but really, seriously, one of the most challenging things you’ll ever do in your life.
Imagine the relief of finding one thing you could be doing almost straight away that could:
- Give you more focus.
- Help you more effortlessly grow your business.
- Successfully sort out the really major issues you’re facing right now.
- Make more money.
- Give you a sense of renewed clarity and purpose.
Imagine if that one thing was also what people like Oprah Winfrey, Sir Richard Branson and 200 of Australia’s top female entrepreneurs consistently use to achieve their extraordinary success.
Keep reading – because I’ve got the fast track for you on what this ONE THING is and, even better, how you can start turning it to your advantage almost immediately in your business.
If you’re relatively new to running a business, you’ve likely got so many new things you’ve got to learn and do coming at you all at the same time, it can really feel like you’re paddling the wrong way up a raging river and not getting anywhere… even though you’re giving it everything you’ve got (and getting exhausted in the process).
And if you’ve been in business for a while, and perhaps even achieved some great runs on the board, you’ve probably discovered your success has created new challenges like juggling a growing team, funding your expansion and having to make the leap to a whole new level of leadership and systemisation, now that it’s not just you and a couple of team members working from the spare room in your house. ☺
That’s why I’m so glad to be speaking with you today.
Because I think I can help.
You see, we’ve been noticing something that we think is pretty big.
For the past 20 years, HerBusiness has scoured the country, looking for Australia’s most successful female entrepreneurs as part of our Businesswomen’s Hall of Fame program.
To date more than 200 women (some very well known, others quiet achievers) have been inducted into the Hall of Fame from businesses large and small.
And over time, we began to notice ONE THING each of these top female business women kept telling us over and over again when we asked them their secret to “Making It”.
It was striking how many of our Hall of Fame inductees listed this ONE THING as a key piece of advice they’d give to other business women looking to emulate their success.
It turns out their advice is backed up by facts.
Studies have shown that 70% of business owners who do this ONE THING will survive in business twice as long as those who don’t.
Plus… those who do this ONE THING are also 20% more likely to experience growth in their business than those who don’t.
Wait.
Those statistics are so important, I need to say them again.
That’s TWICE the chance of surviving.
And 20% more likelihood you’ll achieve growth.
Just by doing this ONE THING.
Like I said, we here at HerBusiness, we think this is pretty big… and I believe this is important information we need to be sharing with business owners wherever and whenever we can.
And globally recognised business leaders agree…
Oprah Winfrey, Sheryl Sandberg and Richard Branson all credit this ONE THING as being crucial for “making it” in business and in life… and they encourage others wanting to emulate them to do the same.
Richard Branson says:
“Whenever I am asked what is the missing link between a promising businessperson and a successful one, this [ONE THING] comes to mind.”
And Oprah is quoted as saying
“I don’t think anybody makes it in the world without some form of this [ONE THING].”
Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg also agrees:
“This [ONE THING] is crucial to success.”
So, by now you might be saying, “Alright already!”
“What is this ONE THING that business leaders like Oprah Winfrey and Richard Branson say is crucial for success?”
“What is this “must-do” that almost all successful people do, including the ABN Businesswomen’s Hall of Fame Inductees?”
TELL ME!
“… what is the ONE THING that almost guarantees I’ll stay in business longer and experience more growth if I do it and puts me more at risk of stagnating or going backwards if I don’t?”
The answer is:
Seek out mentors.
People who’ve got the wisdom and learning from past experiences who can give you the right advice at the right moment, make introductions, expand your network and open doors of opportunity for you, as well as inspire and challenge you.
This might seem like advice you’ve heard before.
“Where is the BIG news in that?” you may be saying.
Well, the answer is…
The really important part is not just KNOWING mentors are important, but actually deliberately going out and finding some great mentors and bringing them into your day to day world…
Like, right now.
Taking ACTION and not only getting the right mentors (easier said than done from what many of our members tell us)… but then actually knowing how to make the most of them.
That’s what will make the difference for you.
Mentors can act as your secret-weapon, a person in your corner who cares enough about your success to provide input and support, but who is detached enough to be objective and help keep you on track.
Instead of struggling with an issue, stuck in indecision, or making easily avoidable mistakes that cost you a fortune, working with a mentor can help you get to where you want to go faster and with less headaches.
I’ve personally always had mentors, right from my early days starting my first business in a spare bedroom in my house! (By the way, that business went on to be a multi-million dollar enterprise and I know much of that success is due to the benefits I received working with, and learning from, my various mentors along the journey).
At every stage of business over the last 20 years I’ve relied on mentors and role models to help guide me through the stages of starting, managing and growing my businesses. They’ve helped me avoid mistakes and then picked me up and helped me correct my course when I went wrong.
I can’t imagine how I would have got through without them.
And I know, from the inspiring women inducted into our Businesswomen’s Hall of Fame that finding and working with the right mentors has been an equally important part of their success too.
People like Jane Cay of Birdsnest…
Naomi Simson, founder of RedBalloon and Shark Tank panelist…
Kristina Karlsson, founder of kikki.K…
And Janine Allis of Boost Juice…
Have all shared stories with us of the importance of mentors in their business success.
Now, you may feel like this is all well and good for others who have the time, money and ready access to mentors, but you’re not sure how to get started or even if you can handle another “to do” on your ever growing list right now.
I’ve felt that way too, at times.
And what I found was that those times of stress, massive change or even periods where things have stagnated or started going backwards are the very moments when I’ve needed to really reach out and find someone with experience to talk to and advise me.
It can be hard when you feel like you’re stuck working IN the business to get the time to work ON your business… especially if you’re not sure where to start or how to really ensure it’s not just another waste of time.
That’s why I’ve put together a special webinar training for you.
It’s for all business owners who want to learn more about how savvy entrepreneurs are using Mentors to help them reach the next level and succeed, even where others are failing.
During the training you will learn:
