Karen Matthews was the CEO of skincare company Ella Baché for ten years before starting Inside Out Leadership. She is responsible for having launched Australia’s first skincare franchise in 2002, as well as steering the family-owned, fifty year-old business through a time of significant change and re-engineering from 2002 to 2008. As a successful leader, Karen had to convince everyone involved with Ella Baché that franchising was a way of taking the company forward without destroying the integrity, heart and soul of the business. Karen accomplished this goal by sticking to one of her own personal mantras “fight to the death”. She had a vision and followed that vision until it became reality.
In this interview, Karen Matthews explains:
- Who she had to convince that franchising was the best option for Ella Baché
- What “inside out” leadership means to her
- The most common leaders to “fight to the death”
