When we recently conducted a question and answer session for a group of members taking part in the IDEAL Business Accelerator program, we fielded a number of questions that had members stuck.
With Suzi Dafnis’s expect help they were able to get solutions so that they could move forward and continue to make progress.
Here are some of the takeaways:
With Newness Comes Overwhelm
When it comes to getting started on anything new in business, whether it’s coming up with a business plan, launching a new product or service, or trying a new type of marketing, often the feeling of being stuck comes with the territory.
If you are working on a new business project you can often experience feelings of overwhelm. So it’s important to understand that the better you know something – the more skilled you are, the less likely it is to overwhelm you. Knowing this allows you to ‘cut yourself some slack’ when it comes to taking on new projects. It takes time to get comfortable with a new subject. Over time, as you develop more mastery, you feel less overwhelmed.
Action Beats Inaction
You may be wondering how you can move from point A to point B as efficiently as possible. You’re feeling hesitant and unable to make a decision.
According to Suzi Dafnis, taking action beats inaction. Despite having fear, momentum comes with taking that first step to move out of your comfort zone.
There’s a great saying by Maxwell Maltz, Suzi explains: “A step in the wrong direction is better than staying on the same spot all our life. Once you’re moving forward, you can correct your course as you go. “
Get Support to Keep Momentum
Possibly your business is picking up momentum but you’re preoccupied with the workload – this may be a sign it’s time to hire external help to assist you with tasks so you can work on growing the business.
Feel like you are running short on time and there aren’t enough hours in the day? When it comes to time, time is a matter of prioritisation and focusing on one thing rather than trying to multitask, and more often than not, getting less done.
Mistakes Are a Sign that You’re In Action
Remember, there will always be mistakes. Business can be a trial and error process, but a step in the wrong direction is better than staying in the same spot forever.
