Maree Zimny has always lived a parallel life with her passions for the corporate world, financial services and technology and her desire to help other people feel better with care and compassion.
Unable to find a business that could marry both her passions: the corporate world and well being, Maree decided to take time off to explore her true calling.
Through this discovery, Maree decided to make that change for herself. She established the “Strategic Thinking Group” a wellness business focusing on technology with the mindset of the heart.
Who’s your favourite entrepreneur and why?
“I have two, Richard Brandson, he had a strong passion to think outside the box, he was creative, he learnt from his mistakes and took on the big players and succeeded.
And as well it has been Dr Joe Dispenza, he is in the field of wellness and I like how he generally cares about people and enriching their lives and I think that is really important.”
What do you enjoy most about running your own business?
“I like that I can do what I want to do when I want to do it and get to follow my intuition to service my clients better rather than trying to fit into someone else’s model of how things should be. As well as getting to fine-tune it by observing the results, getting to observe the clients outcomes and getting to tweaking things to make them better and better.”
What advice would you give to someone starting their business?
“I would actually say congratulations, it takes a lot of courage to start up your own business there are so many risks and it can be very lonely if you are working for yourself. It is also important that you have like-minded people around you so that it allows you to feel supported in your business. You also have to feel ready to wear a lot of different hats, depending on the business most start small and you have to play the marketing role, sales role, admin, accounting, self-motivator, mother and cleaner.”
What does your IDEAL business look like? Even if you’re not there yet, what would it look like if your business was ideal?
“My Ideal business would be people knowing about my business through word of mouth, people hearing about my business and knowing that it is going to make a difference in people’s lives, their personal and business lives. By connecting themselves to their heart they will feel more whole within themselves and therefore will have greater access to resources that will support them.”
What problem does being a member of HerBusiness Network solve for you and your business? And how?
“Being a solo operator gets lonely. It is hard to produce content, so it is important to get external feedback from people that are succeeding and are passionate, as well as understand business. So brainstorming is one of the really good things that I get out of Her Business. It is amazing how there is such a vast amount of experience and skill level.
I also love the breakout sessions and coaching groups that Suzi sets up. Suzi is an inspiration as she is so passionate, she helps lifts people without even knowing that they need lifting.
What have you done through the hard times of your business? And what helps you get through them?”
“Belief in yourself and knowing that what you are doing fulfils a need and a purpose out there for yourself and others. Also, have people to back you up when you just feel so depleted and are beginning to doubt yourself.”
What’s the biggest factor that helped you be successful?
“Passion, I think that if you are passionate you give off real positive energy to other people.”
Is there anything that you have in the pipeline that you want people to know about i.e promotions events?
I’m just in the process of becoming a certified trainer in the philosophy called Heart Math and I would love to offer the HerBusiness network a discount on that. Get in touch with Maree to find out more info.
