From a very young age, Kim Sowter could see, feel, hear and even smell or taste spirit phenomena. Kim knew she was different. Embracing her gift, Kim worked as a professional reader, healer and researcher into the paranormal.
Feeling isolated as a soloprenuer, Kim enlisted in a coaching session with a marketing guru who gave her the idea to create a college. With an innate desire to teach, creating an online college equated with her skills was a no brainer and she set up” The College of Intuition”.
As a certified Medical Intuitive and with over 3000 private consultations under her belt, Kim offers consultations, training and membership at The College of Intuition.
Kim is committed to connecting spirit people to their loved ones in the physical, validating that life beyond this realm exists.
Who’s your favourite entrepreneur and why?
“Michelle Bridges, is a successful business woman who has appeared on Biggest Loser, created an online program, clothing range and authored several books.
Michelle remains down to earth and honest without depicting her life to be, perfect. I find her to be real and attainable. We see her success and failings on all levels. She equates the ups and downs to her success and has truly understood how the mind, body and inner path play a huge role in achieving results.”
Why did you start your business and what gave you the idea?
“My business is a calling. I could not have undertaken any other career or job that didn’t fulfill this calling. The only way in which I was to receive personal and professional satisfaction was to have my own business.
I began as a solo practitioner which was wearing me out. I enlisted in a coaching session with a marketing guru who gave me the idea to create a college, I have never looked back.
I have an innate desire to teach and find this come easily. Creating an online college that equated with my skills was a no brainer. On a business level, it also allows for others to come on board and share the load. Giving me a wider scope with the market and shared responsibilities.”
What do you enjoy most about running your own business?
“The ability to adapt to the changing needs of the market.
Personal development is always going through ‘new trends’ that attracts a new audience that wants to receive knowledge and skills and I love to teach and watch people grow.
I also like change because without it, I am bored.”
What 3 pieces of advice do you wish you’d been given when you started?
- Build a list
- Know your client, really know them
- Don’t follow templates, just because it may work for one person doesn’t mean it will for you
What advice would YOU give someone thinking about starting a business?
- Be prepared to work hard.
- Check in with yourself to see if this venture is the best for you.
- Network, Network and then Network.
What skills and knowledge areas would you recommend those starting out in business get acquainted with quickly?
“Knowing who your client is remains a number one priority. If you do not know what they like, dislike, how they think and where they go then you will struggle to match your message to market.
Once you are able to identify your client. Showcase your knowledge and skills. Build a list and funnel that directly moves them to your site. Nurture their interest with ongoing tips or tricks that will keep them engaged and open for the opportunity of selling your program, product or membership.”
What does your IDEAL business look like? Even if you’re not there yet, what would it look like if your business was ideal?
“My ideal business is to give knowledge, tuition to anyone, anywhere and anytime around the globe. The business provides the scope for me to travel, meet my clients, students, provide freedom to pursue the life/work balance by earning financial freedom that would enable me to create philanthropic opportunities.”
What problem does being a Member of the HerBusiness Network solve for you and your business? And, how?
“I have a huge group of people that can provide insights, practical help and experience about any aspect of business. Previously, I have done everything alone, seeking guidance from experts that cost a fortune and didn’t necessarily help with my issue.
HerBuisness network encourages you to get out of the comfort zone, share your knowledge, receive help, and propel you and business towards success.”
