Last week, we received this great account of one member’s way of making use of the webinar library, included as a member benefit for Premium Members. A long-time member and successful small-business owner, Eleni is a great example of a woman who is truly ‘going for it’ when it comes to taking opportunities ‘by the horn’. I hope you enjoy her entertaining account as much as we did.
Blank screen in front of me, I convince myself that I need a mind map program, no, no, old fashioned white board and marker, or perhaps a brand new notebook (stylish one of course), which would involve a drive to the local bookstore, which is not so local. Yes I was procrastinating. My task was easy – write a press release for a recent topical issue. Surely I could do this, it’s my own company and yes I know it well. Why was it easier when I worked for someone else? Was it the deadline? Was it the public praise? The pay check? The accountability? And in my many hours of wasteful thoughts of why or why not this task was so hard, I looked over at the pink notebook that sat in the corner of my middle shelf. The cover reads ABN Webinars and it is a well-thumbed book, stained with tea, breast milk (yes my first webinar was 3 days after baby number 2 was born – Ava, who is now 3) and it has many words of wisdom, idea gems, organisational tips and action steps. So after a quick re read of the Speed Links Webinar by Ken Hudson and 9 bubbles later, my Press Release was under way and 2 weeks later I have 4 media spots because of it. And so my book slips back into its spot on the shelf for the next brain freeze moment. The webinar’s are inspiring and interesting, but they are really useful when you go back, reread them and put them into actions in your business. — Eleni Mitakos, Galmatic
