Most business people enjoy limited success with digital marketing if they attempt digital marketing themselves. They may have had some progress initially but afterwards they notice how much time is required to stay on top of everything, not just the learning and education but the execution and then of course the measuring of their campaigns.
The good news is, the exercise above has taught you that digital marketing is a viable opportunity for your business growth and now you are ready to propel your business forward and either outsource or hire a digital marketing specialist.
In either option, most businesses will require a digital marketing strategy session. But as a business owner you still don’t know what this should consist of or what to expect.
Key aspects of a digital marketing strategy session include: needs analysis, a review of your current key performance indicators (KPIs), a review or development of your client’s personas, and the creation of a digital marketing road map.
Needs analysis
The first step in conducting the digital marketing strategy is to complete a needs analysis.
This will include:
- Identifying key business objectives
- Increasing leads and sales
- Increasing brand awareness
Understanding of KPIs
Establishing key performance indictors (KPIs) is important with regards to the initial strategy as it is necessary to compare actual results with goals to map progress.
In these strategy sessions we will go into a deep understanding and review of:
- The number of current leads your website generates
- Conversion rates from lead to Sales
- Profitability by service type
- The cost of sales
- Sales processes and systems currently in place
Review or development of your personas
Understanding your target market, in particular the unique personas that define your most successful clients. We would take an in depth look at who are your most profitable clients are and identify the specific aspects of your business that attracted them to you. The objective is to formulate you ideal persona (or avatar) and understand how to attract more of them to your business.
Road map
Finally, develop a digital marketing road map which essentially is a project management deliverable that covers a three to six month journey of how your digital marketing campaign will progress.
