Selling is all about confidence and presenting what you know in a meaningful way. So many people think they can’t be confident – well I am here to show you how YOU can be CONFIDENT in sales. Just follow these 3 simple steps.
STEP ONE: Be yourself
The first is simple. Be yourself. People buy from people they like and trust. Stop trying to be what you think others want or you think is what a ‘great’ sales person is … this just doesn’t work. I have met great sales people of every persuasion, but they are all unashamedly themselves.
But you also have to get over yourself. Go with who you are and what you know. Don’t listen to that voice in your head that says you aren’t ready or need more information. You are perfectly ready to start selling NOW. Just go out, be you and be honest!
STEP TWO: Know your why
We all know WHAT we do … but really people aren’t that interested in that. If you want to be confident that people will listen to you – then know WHY you do what you do and WHO you help by doing that.
What was it that gave you the spark to start your own business or do what you do. Share your passion and what you have learned along the way.

STEP THREE: Practise
This is the last and vital ingredient in confidence. The truth is you are never 100% confident on your first attempt at anything. So why should sales be any different?
A great place to start is to go out and talk to your existing clients. Find out more about their business and if there are more opportunities. Ask them what the like about working with you and what was it that made them say yes in the first place. Then – as you go on, you might as well – ask for a referral.
Once you have practised on your clients, then go out and talk to some potential clients. If you have secured a referral from speaking with your current clients – then that’s a perfect place to start.
I know you can and I trust that you will get out there and give sales your best shot.
For the love of selling,
