Loren Bartley is a social media consultant and is the creator of two online training programs: Social Media Success and FB Business Success NOW! Loren is passionate about educating small businesses on how to effectively harness the power of social media to build brand awareness, share their stories and grow their business. In this podcast, she shares her extensive Facebook expertise.
Loren has seen Facebook grow and evolve over time. She believes that today, Facebook is a completely different beast. It is considerably harder to build an audience and gain good exposure for small businesses on Facebook nowadays. Results can still be obtained organically however; the difference is that it’s not as easy as it used to be.
Don’t be disheartened though. In this podcast Loren offers her insight on how to get the most out of Facebook. She believes that Facebook should always fit into a small business’ strategy and plan.
“You still need a page, still need a presence so that you can be found, you want to get people to like your page.”
Loren suggests the importance of trying to get your customers on Facebook to become your email subscribers: it’s important to be able to communicate with them externally, and not just when decide to check Facebook.
Facebook does a lot of hard work with their algorithms to work out what users want to see more of. Loren is well aware of this and has some strategies to ensure that your small business gains good exposure in newsfeed.

Loren’s favourite social media tool at the moment is Meet Edgar. She uses it to schedule content for her Linkedin and Twitter accounts – she can also use it for Facebook but prefers posting directly from within the platform.
Loren’s second favourite social media tool of the moment is the podcast app on her iPhone as it allows her to keep up-to-date, research guests for podcasts and check her own ratings (she made it to number 4 in Business and Marketing Management category).
