What if your most powerful growth strategy was about having meaningful conversations and building connections?

In this episode, Suzi chats with Jules Brooke, founder of She’s the Boss, who shares how podcasting became her most effective tool for building influence, connection, and opportunity — without needing a massive audience.

Jules didn’t start with a grand strategy. What began as a love of interviewing women has evolved into a powerful platform that has connected her with hundreds of founders worldwide.

Along the way, she’s built not just a network — but genuine relationships that have led to collaborations, clients, friendships, and unexpected opportunities.

Why Podcasting is a Powerful Networking and Growth Tool

One key takeaway is that podcasting flips traditional networking on its head. Instead of awkward small talk or transactional conversations, a podcast creates space for deeper, more meaningful connections.

It gives you:

  • A reason to reach out to influential people
  • A structure for the conversation
  • A natural way to build rapport and trust

And importantly, it removes many of the barriers that make networking feel uncomfortable—especially for introverts.

How to Use Podcasting to Build Influence and Authority

In this episode, you’ll discover:

  • Why a podcast can open doors that cold outreach never could
  • The surprising reason audience size matters less than you think
  • How to turn conversations into collaborations, clients and long-term allies
  • The difference between “being visible” and being known for something meaningful
  • A smarter way to approach networking (especially if you’re an introvert)
  • What to do if your podcast—or your visibility strategy—feels scattered or unfocused

Meaningful Visibility vs Social Media Noise

But this isn’t about creating content for content’s sake.

Jules makes a clear distinction between “noise” and “meaningful visibility.” It’s not about how many people see you—it’s about being seen by the right people, consistently, for what you want to be known for.

She also challenges the idea that a podcast needs a huge audience to be worthwhile. In fact, she argues the real value lies in the doors it opens—the people you meet, the credibility you build, and the conversations that wouldn’t otherwise happen.

If you’ve ever thought about starting a podcast—or wondered how to make your existing one more strategic—this episode will give you a new lens on what’s possible.

About the host

Suzi Dafnis

Hi there. I’m Suzi Dafnis, CEO at HerBusiness. My BIG passion is helping women business owners to grow and scale their business, so that they can create their ideal lifestyle and make a difference in the world. Every day I am inspired by the more than 30,000 amazing women (and men!) in our community and I love finding the best education, mentors, and resources from around the globe, to help them get the skills, knowledge, and support they need to succeed. It’s been my privilege to lead HerBusiness (formerly The Australian Businesswomen’s Network) for the past 23 years (two+ decades – WOW!) because, whilst I’ve enjoyed success in business, I’ve also experienced the highs and the lows – sometimes you can feel on top of the world and in control and other times you can feel isolated, exhausted and stuck. What has made the biggest difference for me has always been having great people around me and having a lifelong commitment to learning. That’s why I am so passionate about the work we do here at HerBusiness – providing a Connection Network for women in business to get the mentors, contacts, referrals, knowledge, and skills they need to grow their confidence, make more money, build their businesses, expand their network and create the lives they love. My entrepreneurial journey started in the spare room of my Sydney apartment in 1994 when my business partner and I started a boutique events company that represented speakers and authors from the USA, here in Australia. Over the years I’ve grown multiple multi-million dollar businesses in the events, publishing and education niches – with teams in Australia, New Zealand, and the USA. Not everything has worked and there has been a degree of trial and error, and a lot of bumps in the road. But I have always had a strong commitment to always surrounding myself with great mentors and like-minded peers – a Connection Network that I can depend on and who can depend on me to be there for them too. I truly do what I love, every day.
