 – I’m Feeling Tired and Overwhelmed. How Do I Stay Connected to Business?

How to stay connected to business… even when you’re feeling overwhelmed.

In this Ask Suzi episode of the HerBusiness Podcast, Suzi Dafnis answers a very common listener question: “I’m so tired and overwhelmed from events outside my business. Is there something I can to to stay connected to business and get me back into focus?”

Our lives are not isolated from our businesses. As business owners, they are interwoven. So often when things happen in our personal lives, the business can take a hit as well.

So if you’re feeling drained by something right now — health, family, the uncertainty in the world, your body going through changes — this episode is for you.

Instead of asking “How do I get motivated again??”, ask yourself this instead: “What is one small way I can show up for myself to stay connected in business today?”

How to Stay Connected to Business — Even When Life Has Other Plans

When you’re feeling overwhelmed as a small business owner, small acts of showing up for yourself can bring you back to the reason WHY you started your business, and respark your energy.

  • Reaching out to one past client to see how they’re going
  • Sending one follow-up email
  • Commenting thoughtfully on a few posts from your community
  • Writing down three ideas for a future project
  • Recording a quick video sharing something you’ve learned
  • Spending twenty minutes on a piece of marketing
  • Booking a coffee with someone you’ve been meaning to connect with
  • Reading one chapter of a book that inspires you (it doesn’t have to be about business)

Business is Built in Seasons

We imagine successful business owners stay connected to business 365 days of the year. Unlimited energy. Unwavering devotion. But they’re not.

Every business has seasons. Growth, creativity, consolidation, and seasons where life simply needs more of your attention elsewhere. You don’t have to fight the season. It’s okay to navigate through it, accepting it for what it is.

What You’ll Discover in Episode 374: “I’m Feeling Tired and Overwhelmed. How Can I Stay Connected to Business?”

  • Why business is built in seasons, and how to navigate them

About the host

Suzi Dafnis

Hi there. I’m Suzi Dafnis, CEO at HerBusiness. My BIG passion is helping women business owners to grow and scale their business, so that they can create their ideal lifestyle and make a difference in the world. Every day I am inspired by the more than 30,000 amazing women (and men!) in our community and I love finding the best education, mentors, and resources from around the globe, to help them get the skills, knowledge, and support they need to succeed. It’s been my privilege to lead HerBusiness (formerly The Australian Businesswomen’s Network) for the past 23 years (two+ decades – WOW!) because, whilst I’ve enjoyed success in business, I’ve also experienced the highs and the lows – sometimes you can feel on top of the world and in control and other times you can feel isolated, exhausted and stuck. What has made the biggest difference for me has always been having great people around me and having a lifelong commitment to learning. That’s why I am so passionate about the work we do here at HerBusiness – providing a Connection Network for women in business to get the mentors, contacts, referrals, knowledge, and skills they need to grow their confidence, make more money, build their businesses, expand their network and create the lives they love. My entrepreneurial journey started in the spare room of my Sydney apartment in 1994 when my business partner and I started a boutique events company that represented speakers and authors from the USA, here in Australia. Over the years I’ve grown multiple multi-million dollar businesses in the events, publishing and education niches – with teams in Australia, New Zealand, and the USA. Not everything has worked and there has been a degree of trial and error, and a lot of bumps in the road. But I have always had a strong commitment to always surrounding myself with great mentors and like-minded peers – a Connection Network that I can depend on and who can depend on me to be there for them too. I truly do what I love, every day.
